Wir zeigen unter dem Titel Chasing Stillness eine Solo-Show mit Arbeiten von boredomresearch, UK, aus den Jahren 2004-2010. Neben Ornamental Bug Garden 002 und einem Biome stellen wir die Software-Objekte Lost calls of cloud mountain whirligigs aus, die auf poetische Weise das Charakteristikum von Software - die ständige Veränderungen einer Arbeit ohne Wiederholung im Gegensatz zum Video - an Lebenszyklen kleiner insektenähnlicher Lebewesen veranschaulichen, sowie das Email-Projekt Real Snail Mail, eine humorvolle Reflektion auf unsere heutigen Erwartungshaltungen gegenüber Kommunikation.

Der Schwerpunkt des Künstlerpaars boredomresearch, bestehend aus Vicky Isley (*1974) und Paul Smith (*1975), liegt auf der Kreation von Software-Objekte, die auf der Untersuchung natürlicher Systeme basieren und Alternativen zu unserem übertechnisierten menschlichen Alltag aufzeigen.

Die Arbeit Ornamental Bug Garden 001 erhielt eine lobende Erwähnung bei der transmediale.05, Berlin (2005) und der VIDA 7.0 Art & Artificial Life International Competition, Madrid (2004) und befindet sich in der British Council Collection in London.

We present a solo-show titled Chasing Stillness with boredomresearch, United Kingdom, including artworks from 2004-2010. Apart from Ornamental Bug Garden 002 and a Biome we show the software pieces Lost calls of cloud mountain whirligigs that create lifelike cycles of small creatures using the characteristics of software - the permanent evoltion of the artwork without repetitions like in a film - in a poetic way. Furthermore the Email-project Real Snail Mail is shown, which is a humorous reflection on our expectations in communication.

In their artworks the artist couple boredomresearch – Vicky Isley (*1974) and Paul Smith (*1975) – emphasise on the creation of software objects, which are based on the examination of natural systems and offer an alternative to our technologically dominated lives.

The artwork Ornamental Bug Garden 001 was awarded an honorary mention at transmediale.05 and VIDA 7.0 Art & Artificial Life International Competition, Madrid, and is now housed at the British Council Collection in London.
